Herts & District Metal Detecting Society
Metal detecting club in St Albans, Hertfordshire
Founded in 1978, this St Albans society is one of the oldest metal detecting clubs in the country. Its ground covers Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, so members get a decent variety of land to search.
The club is active too — there's a face-to-face meeting every month and club digs every Sunday, which is a busier calendar than most clubs manage. If you want regular detecting in the Home Counties, they're an obvious one to ask about.
Thinking of joining? Get in touch with the club directly using the links here — and if you're still choosing your first metal detector, sort that before your first dig.
Map shows the club's approximate home area (St Albans, Hertfordshire), not a dig site or meeting venue. Contact the club for exact details.
